Question about SIRIUS satellite radio?

My boyfriend and I are looking at getting one for our car, but we're wondering how to go about it. Do they have a big installment fee and do they do a credit check like they do when you get on a contract for a cell phone? Do they make you sign a contract, too? I'm a little lost here..any help would be appreciated!
