Help with wedding speech!?
From your explanation, it seems that speeches are expected. If your FH is making a speech to his parents, then obviously you must do the same. However, it might be easier if you did a combined speech in which you both thank all the parents for their love and support as you begin your lives together. If you, however, have to give your own speech, I would make it short and sweet and focus on the relationship you have now. If you can think of a couple of specific details from your young years (ex. being taught to read at a young age), then mention them. You can always thank your dad for working hard to support his family OR for teaching you the value of hard work (if this was the case). Ultimately, the day is about the bride and groom so you don't have to go on and on about your parents, especially if it seems contrived. Good luck and best wishes on your marriage.
